EXPANSION OF CCC PLANT FACILITY

The growing demand for carrageenan products despite the COVID-19 pandemic paved the way for the expansion of the Cebu Carrageenan Corporation (CCC) plant facility. The increased demand for functional ingredients and carrageenan is attributed to the long months of lockdown. Consumers are more inclined towards convenient products and ready-to-eat or instant food products.

Expansion of Seaweed Warehouse

The rapid rise in consumer demand pushed us to increase our capacity and to upgrade and renovate our facilities to enhance production flexibility. This included augmentations from raw material receiving to production’s wet and dry process including support systems, and up to storage and delivery. We also installed another mechanical dyer and our warehousing facilities were increased by 67%.

Expansion of Finished Goods Warehouse

The project started in the 4th quarter of 2020 and was completed last June 2021. Overall the expansion resulted in doubling the production capacity of our Carmen plant.

Aireen Gimeda, Plant Manager of Cebu Carrageenan Corporation confirmed, “Currently, we have a lot of orders and new customers that we look forward to serving them all with our increased capacity. We also have new machinery that will further improve our production line.
