Our Commitment to Sustainability
We are committed to building a resilient, responsible, and future-ready organization by continuously reducing our environmental footprint, supporting responsible seaweed sourcing, and strengthening coastal communities. At the same time, we uphold the highest standards in product quality and food safety while embedding sustainability into everyday decision-making across all levels of the organization.
Sustainability is not a standalone initiative—it is a continuous journey of improvement, innovation, and accountability.
Material ESG Priorities
Our sustainability strategy is guided by a structured materiality assessment aligned with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) framework. This ensures that we focus on the most relevant issues for both our stakeholders and our business.
Key priorities include product safety and quality, occupational health and safety, environmental compliance, waste and water management, and energy use and greenhouse gas emissions. These areas define how we manage risks, implement controls, and track performance.
Our Sustainability Framework
Our ESG approach is structured around four interconnected pillars.
We invest in our people by fostering a safe workplace, supporting employee development, and promoting ethical conduct.
We protect the environment through energy efficiency, emissions reduction, responsible water use, and waste management.
We serve our customers by ensuring product safety, compliance, and data integrity.
We strengthen our community and supply chain by promoting responsible sourcing and engaging closely with seaweed farming communities.
Energy Transition & Climate Commitment
In 2025, W Hydrocolloids, Inc. committed to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), aligning its emissions reduction strategy with the 1.5°C climate pathway. This milestone reinforces our long-term ambition to decarbonize operations in line with global climate goals.
